(1864-1919)
Born in Breddin, Germany in 1864, Charles Frederick William Mielatz immigrated to the U.S. as a boy. He was a prolific artist who trained with James J. Calahan in Newport, Rhode Island, at the National Academy of Design with F. Rondel and at the Chicago School of Design. A large number of his works focused on New York City, where he taught at the National Academy for several years until his death in 1919.
